I first heard about Andrew through our Veterinarian. During Andrew’s first visit to our house, Ben our 1 year old Shih-tzu barked non stop, and this is the way it was all the time until Andrew intervened. Ben needed a Behaviour Modification Program to establish my husband and I as the leaders in the family, and to help extinguish Ben’s constant attention seeking behaviour. Ben also needed to be socialized in a safe and positive manner. We had previously had Ben enrolled in a group dog training session, which proved to be a very negative experience for both him and us. With wonderful skills, knowledge and patience, Andrew gave us the tools to turn our anxious/nervous dog into a fun loving playful dog. And he even received his obedience training certificate! Andrew was extremely good with Ben and has a wonderful calming effect in his approach. Andrew has also been instrumental in helping us help Ben with the transition of moving from Moncton to Ottawa. Andrew in my opinion is fantastic at what he does and am very fortunate to have had his training. He is a kind person who truly has your dog’s best interest at heart. I highly recommend him and so does his furry friend *Ben*

"My first behaviour problem was with my Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. After an evaluation in my home, Mr. Turner asked me to have a complete checkup, including a blood test, to rule out any health problems before he began to work with her. Unfortunately there were severe health problems. Without this advice I would have lost her sooner than the two more years she did live. I now have a Miniature Schnauzer who needs help with his demeanor. Results from the gentle, positive reinforcement methods Mr. Turner promotes are uncanny. Andrew Turner is not only an excellent behaviourist for those with problem dogs, he is the first person I have found who will board in his own home and he is a warm, caring person. I recommend him highly."

"We have two beautiful Golden Retriever’s, Casey is my 8 year old female and Cooper is my 22 months old male. When we first got Cooper at 8 weeks he was a handful……for Casey!! He would go to her to play and bite her and try to get her going, I have to say she wasn’t impressed with this at all. Not paying any attention to him and trying her best to ignore him and to basically get the point across that he was on her territory and she was “The Boss”.
I knew Andrew had been to see my brother’s Bernese Mountain Dog and I knew that they were really impressed with him, so I e-mailed him and he came to visit us. He gave us great tips on how to distract Cooper away from Casey when it was obvious she really didn’t want anything to do with him and to eventually get them to play together, it took a while and a lot of positive reinforcement for Casey but she came around and now they’re inseparable. He lies next to her and puts his head on her back and when Cooper gets an ear infection and we have to put drops in his ears Casey is always around making sure that we’re not hurting him and to make sure he’s o.k. Andrew’s positive reinforcement tips brought Casey and Cooper together as friends, without him I’m not quite sure how their relationship would be. He made it very enjoyable for us as owners to train them and a very positive training environment for both Casey and Cooper. I have and will continue to recommend him to my co-workers, friends and family."

"Suntop Country Girl Rosie( Rosie for short) is our 22 month old Golden Retriever whom we love like a child. We had Rosie for 5 months when I decided to take her to obedience class, it was near my home and from what I had heard it was suppose to be a good place to learn and teach your dog general obedience. After attending the sessions I found that Rosie became almost cross each time I would try to discipline her. I thought this was just her trying to be the dominant female and that she was trying to rule the roost. Each time I would take Rosie walking if I attempted to correct her she would sit on her hind legs and cross her two front paws over the
leash and snarl at me. I spoke to several different people about her behavior and a friend from work recommended Andrew. I called him and without any wait he came out to our house to see Rosie and to evaluate her. We had him come out twice the second time as a follow up to make sure that we were on the right path. I discussed the techniques that I had been taught in the obedience class and told him how Rosie was reacting. Within a short period of time Andrew made me realize why Rosie was acting the way she was and with in no time at all with the new techniques Andrew showed us we saw a dramatic change in Rosie's behavior. With the techniques Andrew showed us we are now able to walk Rosie with no problems, as well we are
now able to walk her off leash and not worry about her not coming back to us when asked. She is a wonderful part of our family and I don't think we could have turned her behavior around without the advice of Andrew. He is wonderful to work with and amazing to watch with the animals he is working with. I would and have recommended him to many friends, family and Co workers. Keep up the fantastic work Andrew. I think you should be better known as the dog whisperer."

We heard about Andrew through a co-worker who had recommended his services. We have two Shih-Tzus and one of them had started panting, whining, and barking whenever we would get ready to leave the house. We were also finding that she was peeing on the floors and other destructive behaviour when we were away from the house. Andrew came over and immediately had both dogs' complete and undivided attention. He absolutely has an indescribable gift with dogs. He asked a lot of questions and gave us some training exercises to do with both of the dogs. We noticed that within just a few days the fear of being home alone seemed to have subsided significantly and we certainly have two much better behaved dogs than we did before Andrew came to our house. We've been able to continue the exercises and have had two much happier dogs for over a year!

After adopting our 8 year old border collie I became afraid we wouldn’t be able to keep her. With her bold personality, she was very set in her ways.
The answer to our prayers came in a very kind and competent dog trainer who was very highly
recommended to us by another dog behaviorist-assistant and rightly so. His name was Andrew Turner and my husband and I were truly amazed with his skill when he came to assess our situation. Within seconds Andrew had our dogs undivided attention and cooperation. He knew all of her needs and ours and explained very well how to meet them.
Within a couple of days we saw very significant changes in her behaviour. Not long after Andrew’s visit, working with her and this new wisdom, which was actually quite enjoyable, we were very grateful and surprised with such a transformation.
We now have a very happy, capable and confident dog who no longer barks at us to get her needs met but looks to us for guidance. She is very sociable rather than fearful and bossy.
We have received numerous compliments and comments about her and how well mannered she is. For this we are indebted to Andrew who quite obviously has a real heart for dogs as well as their owners.
Thanks be to God for the behaviour modification programs, also desensitizing training that have worked wonders for our pet, and my deepest gratitude for the most gifted dog trainer-“Dog Angel”,
Andrew Turner!
I highly recommend Andrew Turner to anyone with a dog concern of any kind.

Thanks so much for your visit last night. We all enjoyed it so much and loved your kind and gentle approach with Bear. The kids even said how they liked that you included them in the conversations and wanted their input...you are gifted at your job!!.

My dog, Jack the Duck Toller, is a rescued canine with a most exuberant temperament. He was barely a year when my daughter adopted him. Little did she know that Jack would try and rule the house. He expressed his love for people and other dogs by jumping up as high as he could jump. His taste buds for food made him into a surfer of tables and counters. I tried very hard to teach him good manners but I realized that I needed the assistance of
professional help in training Jack. I learnt about Andrew Turner and Andrew's ability to train dogs in a positive and gentle way. When Andrew came to the house, he observed Jack and quickly realized that Jack was an attention seeker, which made sense to me, since Jack in his early puppy months lacked positive attention, had little social interactions with either humans or other dogs. Andrew offered literature and information including clicker training, as well as other excellent tips on working with and improving Jack's behaviour.
I recently needed to board Jack and approached Andrew if he could board Jack for a week or so and he agreed. I also asked if he could work with Jack a little to which Andrew agreed. This, indeed, turned out to be a real blessing. When Jack came home, his behaviour has improved so much so that my friends are impressed. Thank you Andrew for a job so well done. Thank you
for giving me the tools to continue working with Jack, the opportunity and knowledge to be able to call onyou, if needed.

I wasn't a believer at first, I thought how can you train by positive
reinforcement only.. well Andrew is very kind and gentle and has a way with
dogs.
He really showed me how smart my boy Zeek was, within a couple of weeks I
had taught him to sit, down, come, high five, shake and rollover! He not
only showed us tricks but how to mould a great listening dog. Thanks for
everthing Andrew!

Andrew,
Thanks so much for your help. They are both enjoying the clicker. When Meeka is outside and it's time to come in, I call her to come and click once, most times she has come quickly to get her treat.
Also, I have been walking Meeka without the pinch/prong collar around the block. She isn't pulling and stays beside me and if the leash gets too loose she will turn to make sure I am still there. I start the walk with treats and clicking but after we get going she just gets into the rythym. We pass by strangers withought any problems although they were on the other side of the street.
The positive training is working a lot better than whatever we were doing before. She responds a lot better to a soft voice spoken nicely. We are teaching my father about the clicker and his voice is soft now and he can really see a difference. And it's only been a few days. I feel that when we would hollar at her because she did something she shouldn't have, she thought it was a good thing instead of a bad thing. No more saying no to her. And to be honest, now that she is getting a nice calm walk, I haven't had to make her get off of me. She keeps her feet on the floor.. great!!
Things are looking up for both of them.
Thanks again for helping us.
Just another great update.. We took the girls to the dog park in Riverview on Sunday. They ran for an hour straight and had a great time. After the play time we thought we'd go for a drive to learn how to stay in the back of the car. This is something we have been working on for 7 months. With the clicker and treats it worked like a charm. Now we can go for drives withought the threat of getting in an accident from trying to get her to sit.
The pinch/prong collar hasn't been used since we started our "new life" and Lily only used the choker when we trained in school. We haven't put them in the trash yet but we will this Sunday.
Thanks again for your help!!
